Youth Referee Program
We are looking for a Youth Referee Coordinator (ideally a parent) to help manage the program. Reach out to refadmin@mpsoccer.org if you are interested!
Why be an AYSO Youth Referee?
Becoming an AYSO youth referee offers numerous benefits, and is open to ages 10 and up:
Increase your knowledge of the game.
Gain and practice leadership skills.
Earn community service hours for school.
Have fun outside!
Earn thank you gift cards and custom referee gear for officiating 5 and 10 games in a season! We also plan to have an end of Season party!
How does it work?
If you are interested in volunteering as a Youth Referee, follow these instructions to register as a volunteer, that way we’ll know you’re interested and can contact you with information about upcoming training opportunities and other program announcements. [If you’re not ready to register, but want to stay updated on the program, email refadmin@mpsoccer.org]
You can also get a head start by completing your safety certifications online (Youth Referees do not need to complete SafeSport, Background checks, or fingerprinting).
Youth referees can officiate games for age groups that are two years younger than they are (e.g. 10 year old can officiate U8, 12 year old U10, etc.)
Youth referees are taught the laws of the game by our trainers, and then mentored throughout the year to improve their skills. All youth referees will have experienced adult mentors available to help guide them through the season. Our Referee Administrator will reach out regarding referee training opportunities over the Summer.
The season runs from September 6th through November 2nd (10 weekends), with games on Saturdays at local Menlo Park fields. You can sign-up for games as your schedule allows.
Please reach out to refadmin@mpsoccer.org with any questions.
