Referee Training

All referees are required to register, complete safety certifications, and finally, complete referee-specific training.

8U Official:
- Online self-study training module
Regional Referee (10U/12U), Intermediate Referee (14U), Advanced Referee (16U/19U)
- Online self-study training module
- Virtual or in-person classroom session
- On the field training session

Regional Referee field sessions will be offered at the beginning of the season (dates TBD), we’ll contact you with more details, but you may also enroll in a training session offered by any AYSO region (see below for instructions on how to find/enroll).

A mandatory Referee Meeting will be held on [TBD] at the beginning of the season. Stay tuned for details.

8U Referees

1. Login to ayso109.org and click on the “AYSOU” tab.

2. Navigate to the “Training Library” tab, and select the “View Courses” under “Referees”

3. Click “Enroll” in the “AYSO 8U Official” course, and then follow the steps to complete it.

4. You can resume a partially completed training anytime from the “My Trainings” tab.

10U and 12U Referees (Regional)

1. Login to ayso109.org and click on the “AYSOU” tab.
2. Go to “Training Event” and in the “Courses” menu search for the "Regional Referee - Online + In-Person Companion Course"

** You are also welcome to enroll in another region’s offered course. To do so you can remove the “Region 109” filter and provide a Location range.

2. After selecting an event from the calendar, you can then click to “Enroll”

3. Complete the online portion of the course BEFORE the virtual classroom and field sessions.

You can view any enrolled training from the “My Training” tab.

14U (Intermediate)

The steps are the same as for Regional referees above, but instead search for the “Intermediate Referee - Online + In-Person Companion Course” when enrolling.

You will likely need to find a training offered in an adjoining Region, or register and attend this year’s Golden Gate Camp at Menlo College the weekend of August 1st.

16U/19U (Advanced)

The steps are the same as for Regional referees above, but instead search for the “Advanced Referee - Online + In-Person Companion Course” when enrolling.
