However, the card does not have much free space on it, so it is generally difficult for a referee to use it to keep a record of the game. Some try, and just scribble over the pre-printed text areas. Others just stick the lineup card in a back pocket and never look at it except at substitution times and game end. If you are one of the latter, you must use something else to keep your game record. You have a few choices

• use a blank index card and fill it in however you like,
• buy preprinted cards from one of the soccer referee stores, or
• design your own card layout and print them up yourself.

Or you could download GameData.PDF, which contains a card layout (in PDF format) that some have found useful, and either print it or use it to inspire your own design. (If you don't have it already, you'll need to download Adobe Acrobat to view and print this file.)
